Icon table by [info]77words Icon Table Generator

Note for #1: I posted this icon a long time ago (about two years!) all by its lonesome, along with a somewhat pretentious commentary about the ways Michael Hurst--the director of "Greece is Burning"--plays with the critical cliché of the "male gaze." If you are or were a graduate student and were exposed to the extremely-overused appearance of these two words together (or used them yourself--it's OK; we all did things we aren't proud of in order to get a good grade on a paper or an article published) and want to read what I had to say at the time about the icon, you can find it here. Give it a read, pretty please; I'd like to think I had something useful to say about the episode, Michael Hurst's directing skills, and his skillful wielding of H/I subtext.

Just as a more recent note, with regard to #12, if you watch "The Warrior Princess" on the HTLJ Season 1 DVD and listen to the audio commentary, during the sweaty scene in the forge, Hurst innocently comments: "It's quite, sort of... It's homoerotic, isn't it?" as if he had never noticed before. As if . . . Toward the end of the episode, when our heroes have defeated the Warrior Princess, we hear Hurst on the commentary saying (while we see Iolaus speaking), "I love you Hercules. Let's go home. Will you sleep on top tonight? I don't know."

Another note: You'll occasionally see two icons that look, well, sort of familiar. Sometimes, I have the hardest time deciding b/t two versions b/c I like them both, so I leave the burden of choosing up to you.

And now for something completely different:

All of the icons in this post are completed works, not bases, whether they contain text or not.

Resources are in my Resource Post, and each icon has individual credits here.

Please read the first two entries in this journal, [info]fading_coal, for complete information and rules.

Take, use, and enjoy, but please credit [info]astarte59 or [info]fading_coal, and comments are highly desired, greatly appreciated, and good manners to boot.

Oh hey, you have to check this out. It's here on my icon page. I used that same picture (as your DB icon here) for an icon; check out #2. I didn't post it on LJ b/c it was a birthday present exclusive for the recipient, but I still wanted to show it off somewhere b/c it amused me w/ the contrast w/ the sexy dangerous stare. Lemme know what you think.

And you're welcome wrt the Giles and Randy Giles Brit-stiff-upper-lip hug. Feel free to nab it.

26 as in this icon? That's a surprising pair to pick, but they are two of my favorites, myself. Thank you very kindly! :-)

Thanks! There's a Herc/Iolaus comm here on LJ, but it depends whether you're into H/I subtext. I always liked HTLJ and wrote Herc/Iolaus and Herc/Xena fic back in the day. I'll definitely keep making Hercules icons. He's so pretty. :-) I have to make some Nebula icons some day. I want to make more Zoe icons, but Gina was so much fun as Nebula too.

Thank you! I always like to see the word "Gorgeous." Interesting combo; it's always fascinating to see which groups of icons people like. Wrt 29, I'm glad I've started making textless versions of icons for folks who prefer them. I mean 28 more fully expresses what I wanted to say, but I've noticed that when I look at other people's icons, I often pick the ones w/out text too.

There's three comms w/ Xena icons: [info]xenites, [info]xena_icons, and [info]xena_art. The icon I'm using here is by my favorite Xena icon maker, [info]cila81. Her icon comm is [info]aria_icons. So Xena icons are out there! Oh, and thank you!
